Species Info

Habitat/Range: Asian Forest Scorpions are found from India to Malaysia. They are found on the rainforest floor under logs and other debris.

Behavior: Scorpions are carnivorous and feed on crickets, spiders, and insects. As nocturnal creatures, they hunt by night and hide under litter during the day. They show aggression by opening the pincers on their pedipalps (claw like structures).

Breeding: Males court females by leading her back and forth with his pedipalps. He then deposits a sperm package on the ground and the females moves over it; picking it up with an organ on her abdomen. Once hatched, offspring are carried around on their mother’s back until their first molt, after which they disperse.

Conservation: Listing: Least Concern.
